SUPERNATURAL SANTANA: A TRIP THROUGH THE HITS PARTNERS WITH PROJECT SOLE TO RECYCLE SHOES FOR A GOOD

April 13, 2010

Las Vegas (April 13, 2010) – In celebration of Earth Day and in the spirit of Carlos Santana’s continued environmental and humanitarian efforts, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits  is partnering with Project Sole, a local nonprofit formed to collect durable footwear for communities in-need. Fans will be encouraged to recycle their gently-used shoes during Santana’s next set of performances at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino from April 21 through May 2 to support worldwide disaster relief. As a “thank you” to those who donate, fashionable shoe brands Carlos by Carlos Santana and Unity by Carlos Santana will offer a generous discount of 20 percent off their merchandise.

“More than 300 million children around the world are barefoot and therefore deprived of one of life’s basic necessities,” said Jaron Wilson of Project Sole. “The donations made by Santana fans will go to benefit disaster efforts in Chile after the recent, devastating 8.8 earthquake. In addition, they help protect the environment and allow us to continue the cycle of giving, one step at a time.”

Concertgoers and the general public are welcome to drop off new and gently-worn footwear mainly for donation to disaster relief in Chile. Some shoes will also be donated to local shelters and schools. Volunteers and staff from Project Sole will be collecting shoes before each performance of Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits from Wednesday, April 21 through Sunday, May 2 (show time is 8 p.m.). Shoe donations can also be made at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Box Office daily from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.  Recycled shoes will be delivered by Project Sole to schools, shelters and other community organizations around the world and around our town.

“I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with Project Sole to honor Earth Day in this way, and to contribute to people lacking such a fundamental human necessity.  As we go through our day, we rarely think that something so basic is out of the reach of so many. By the simple act of donating shoes, we can make a real and immediate difference in helping others to improve their lives.  They can walk to school, get to work, visit family and friends, and be protected from the elements.  They can walk with dignity.  And, by thinking about recycling and conservation in ways beyond paper and plastic materials, we move toward a planet that is healthier for everyone.  I am inspired to now find more ways to recycle, and I hope that others will be too,” Carlos Santana said.

Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits is the first and only rock-n-roll resident show in Las Vegas, and features an ever-changing set list spanning the band’s classics such as Oye Como Va,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Evil Ways,” and “Maria Maria.”  The show was exclusively designed for The Joint, voted “Best New Major Concert Venue” at the 2010 Pollstar Awards. Each performance includes a unique take on the band’s repertoire, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for show-goers.

Santana plays approximately 36 times per year at The Joint, with a show time of 8 pm. Ticket prices start at only $51 and can be purchased by visiting the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000.
